The information needs of the scientific community are huge and the timely acquisition of reliable information catalytically contributes to scientific, technological and productive development of each country. The role of academic libraries becomes especially important.The subject of this paper is research that conducted in the Library of Athens University, and specific in Department of History and Philosophy of Science. The MITHE Department has as subject philosophy and history of science. The research aims to record the multiple problems which they confronted daily the library users (such as the impossibility of lending library material , the absence of modern technology, the lack of staff, the insufficient opening hours of the library), but also provides immediate solutions-proposals in order to achieve as quickly as possible a better result.
